Thymus vulgaris — a Mediterranean culinary and medicinal herb.
Mediterranean origin, grown widely. Essential oil distilled from leaves and flowering tops.
Sharp, slightly medicinal, warm and herbal. Slightly sweeter than rosemary, more assertive than lavender. Has a warmth that other culinary herbs lack — thyme smells like something that has been cooking.
Thyme adds warm aromatic complexity and naturalness. It appears in Fresh and Aromatic compositions as a supporting herb and in some Oriental fragrances as a warm spice-adjacent accent.
Also appears in: Fresh, Oriental / Amber
